RELITE Standard
Regenerative Retinal Laser and Light Therapies (RELITE): Proposal of a New Nomenclature, Categorization, and Trial Reporting Standard
Publication

The RELITE standard has been published open access in Lasers in Surgery and Medicine. For detailed information, please read the linked publication.
Intention
- Numerous laser and light therapies have been proposed to induce regenerative processes of the macular region
- All aim to induce a stimulation of the photoreceptor / RPE / choroid complex without functional or structural damage
- Due to differential techniques, dosimetry and treatment patterns, understandibility and comparability is poor
Goal
- Introduction of the a nomenclature framework that concisely and unambiguously describes light and laser techniques by 3 criteria:
- Light and Laser System Category
- Dosimetry
- Treatment Pattern
- Proposal of a minimum trial reporting standard for macular laser and light therapy to allow for better understandibility, comparability and reproducibility between researchers and trials
